Civil Engineering Intern (Roadway) - Summer 2027
About The Position
RS&H is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join its Roadway team in either the Denver or Loveland, Colorado office for Summer 2027. The intern will collaborate with and receive mentorship from engineering associates while supporting the Denver Roadway Design Group on conventional and design-build projects. The work combines roadway design with the application of technical standards to help meet client expectations and develop cost-effective solutions. This role offers hands-on experience and an opportunity to learn about the transportation engineering industry. Interns gain engineering experience in their field of interest by working alongside engineers and planners in a professional setting and applying their education and skills. RS&H is an employee-owned architecture, engineering, and consulting firm whose teams deliver transportation and infrastructure solutions in partnership with transportation agencies and local governments.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship or related experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Experience with or exposure to Department of Transportation (DOT) plan preparation and design standards.
- Specific interest in transportation or roadway design.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine calculations using basic engineering principles.
- Prepare and revise plan documents and details.
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Perform engineering tasks using computer-assisted design software and equipment.
- Support engineering and project management associates.
