About The Position

Parsons is accepting applications for a Summer 2027 Roadway Engineering Internship in Boston. The intern will develop engineering technical skills and knowledge through direct mentorship and collaboration with infrastructure design experts, gaining experience and exposure to major area and regional projects. The position is part of the Critical Infrastructure team, which plans, designs, builds, and modernizes infrastructure to connect and protect communities, support economic growth, enhance mobility, and improve sustainability and resiliency.

Requirements

Enrolled in a bachelor's and/or master's degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
Prior transportation or structural engineering coursework.
Interest and ability to work on multiple road and highway projects at once.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High knowledge level of MS Office tools.
CAD proficiency; MicroStation preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of industry standards and applicable engineering software.

Responsibilities

Determine creative and innovative methods and solutions for complex road or highway engineering problems, selecting efficient and economical approaches to achieve objectives.
Ensure designs comply with approved federal, state, and local agency requirements and accepted industry practices and procedures.
Prepare specifications, estimations, quantity calculations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analyses.
Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.
Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Work on a project or organizational team, or as a design engineer on intermediate- to large-scale projects.
