Civil Engineering Intern (Roadway) - Summer 2027
About The Position
RS&H is seeking a Roadway Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in its Denver or Loveland, Colorado office. The intern will collaborate with and receive mentorship from experienced engineering associates while supporting the Denver Roadway Design Group on conventional and design-build projects. The work combines roadway design and technical standards to help meet client expectations and deliver cost-effective solutions. The position offers hands-on experience and exposure to the transportation engineering industry. Interns work alongside engineers and planners in a fast-paced professional setting, applying educational knowledge and skills to practical engineering work. RS&H is an employee-owned architecture, engineering, and consulting firm whose teams deliver transportation, infrastructure, and facility solutions.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship or related experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Experience or exposure to Department of Transportation (DOT) plan preparation and design standards.
- Specific interest in transportation or roadway design.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine calculations using basic engineering principles.
- Prepare and revise plan documents and details.
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Perform engineering tasks using computer-assisted design software and equipment.
- Support engineering and project management associates.
