Requirements

Graduation from a recognized college and university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Minimum eight (8) years’ full-time paid professional experience in civil design on commercial or public agency projects, preferably in educational facilities
A valid license as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists

Responsibilities

Assist in defining and reviewing project scope, requirements, schedules, and interim housing needs for District facility projects.
Perform complex civil engineering work involving the planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements, providing technical direction and design certification.
Apply civil engineering principles to develop project scopes, budgets, design reviews, technical coordination, and construction solutions for FSD projects.
Provide technical guidance to architects, consulting engineers, and District personnel on site development, including grading, paving, fencing, parking, streets, storm drainage, sewer systems, and related improvements.
Direct and review civil engineering project documents, including surveys, drawings, specifications, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with District standards, codes, guidelines, and project requirements.
Manage civil engineering, land surveying, and related professional service contracts and task orders while maintaining current engineering standards, guidelines, and specifications.
Evaluate site development feasibility and costs, resolve civil engineering issues during construction, and provide technical advice to contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and project personnel.
Coordinate with the City of Los Angeles and consultants on permits and approvals for off-site improvements.
Provide professional design certifications.
Support real estate activities involving legal descriptions, easements, parcel maps, and street vacations.
