About The Position

The Christmas Driver transports bell ringers, gifts, donations, and other Christmas program materials for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Angel Tree and Christmas Kettle programs. The role involves driving non-DOT vans or trucks to assigned locations, following efficient routes and schedules, and ensuring the safety and security of vehicles, passengers, and donations. The driver also maintains vehicle cleanliness and may assist with cleanup, traffic direction, and setup or removal of Christmas displays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of driving experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to operate commercial equipment.
• Ability to safely transport employees in a van.
• Ability to perform general building-cleaning activities.
• Ability to exert the physical energy required for the duties.
• Ability to continuously stoop, stand, and climb, and to lift, carry, push, or pull moderate (25–50 lb) and possibly heavy (50–100 lb) materials and donations.
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with The Salvation Army’s mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, protocol, and Christian principles, and to communicate and perform duties with a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Transport bell ringers to and from designated kettle worksites and Corps or Area Command locations.
• Drive non-DOT vans or trucks between assigned locations to collect gifts and deliver them to the Christmas warehouse or Corps.
• Organize pickup schedules using direct routes and arrive at destinations according to schedule.
• Pick up gifts, stockings, and other items from homes, agencies, churches, and other designated locations for delivery to the Corps.
• Drive to and from drive-through or drop-off events at malls and other assigned locations.
• Ensure the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations.
• Maintain the cleanliness of vans and trucks inside and outside.
• Assist with janitorial and general cleanup work at the Corps, warehouse, or assigned locations as needed.
• Assist with routing traffic at Corps or Area Command warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution when requested.
• Set up Christmas display trees, tables, and stands and disassemble them at the end of the Christmas season.
• Perform other related work as required.
