Christmas Driver
About The Position
The Christmas Driver drives non-DOT vans or trucks for the Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree and Christmas Kettle programs. The role transports bell ringers to designated kettle worksites and picks them up afterward, and transports gifts and other donations to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps. The driver is responsible for the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times. The position is seasonal and full-time in Houston, Texas. Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to changing weather and outdoor conditions, including dirt, dust, and potentially disagreeable sights and odors. Employees of The Salvation Army are expected not to undermine the organization’s religious mission.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of driving experience.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Responsibilities
- Drive vans to transport bell ringers to kettle worksites and pick them up at designated locations for return to Corps or Area Command locations.
- Drive non-DOT vans or trucks to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and deliver them to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps.
- Organize pickup schedules using the most direct routes and arrive at destinations according to schedule.
- Pick up gifts, stockings, and other items from homes, agencies, churches, and other designated locations for delivery to the Corps.
- Drive to and from drive-through and/or drop-off events at malls and other assigned locations.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the truck and/or van inside and outside.
- Ensure the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations.
