Children's Services Assistant - Waccamaw Neck Branch Library
About The Position
The part-time Children’s Services Assistant works at the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library under the direct supervision of the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library Children’s Librarian, with guidance from the Branch Library Manager. The role supports children’s services and library programming, including story hours, special events, activities, the summer reading program, school presentations, displays, and promotion of children’s activities. Other duties include shelving and straightening the children’s collection, operating an automated circulation system, helping patrons with book requests, maintaining daily statistics, and performing related duties. The schedule includes ongoing daily time slots as well as considerable regular weekend and evening hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some experience in early childhood development.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
- Creativity, good communication skills, and a positive public-service demeanor.
- Ability to work well with children and parents.
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing approximately up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Children’s Librarian with conducting story hours.
