The Children’s Magazine Graphic Design Intern contributes to the editorial process for the October, November, and December issues of Clubhouse, for children ages 8 to 12, and Clubhouse Jr., for children ages 3 to 7. These award-winning magazines reach more than 140,000 children around the world each month and aim to provide life-changing stories in an age-appropriate format and language. The intern gains experience designing for a specific audience and brand while helping children laugh, learn, and grow closer to Christ. The internship includes learning print and design processes; designing spreads and galleys for review; illustrating assigned stories and puzzles; photographing crafts and recipes; attending team meetings, including art plans, submission meetings, and devotional times; and assisting with collateral design projects and administrative work. The internship is unpaid, with a $3,500 honorarium. Lunch is provided on workdays, and housing is provided for out-of-town students only. Applicants must be upperclassmen college students seeking a summer internship. The intern is responsible for transportation, which may be a condition of acceptance. Focus on the Family is a Christian nonprofit ministry. Candidates are expected to share the Gospel and live by biblical truths, exemplify the cited biblical principles, pursue the Great Commission, consistently witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous and Christ-like attitude, adhere to the ministry’s Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith, uphold the ministry in prayer, and demonstrate behaviors aligned with its core values.
