About The Position

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families. The Child Welfare Supervisor 2 supervises Child Welfare social service staff to ensure the mission of the Department of Human Services is carried out by providing services directly to children and families in accordance with state and federal laws and good Child Welfare practice. This role also involves coordinating client services with other state agencies or providers, maintaining cooperative working relationships with community partners, and continuously reviewing programs and standards that affect the quality, safety, and permanency of children's lives. The supervisor makes decisions about the level and type of services provided to client families and is responsible for personnel management, including interviewing, selection of new staff, staff promotions, reassignment, completing performance appraisals, responding to grievances, rewarding excellent performance, and taking disciplinary actions when required.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.
  • Associate degree and three years of human services related experience, with two years including lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.
  • Associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.
