The Child Support Specialist facilitates successful outcomes for children’s financial well-being by initiating, establishing, modifying, enforcing, and collecting child support obligations. The role uses analytical reasoning and a trauma-informed approach to provide timely, accurate case management while navigating complex family dynamics, processing legal documents and correspondence, researching information across multiple systems, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Specialists interpret legal orders, resolve system conflicts, and manage early intervention and enforcement efforts using the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES) and other specialized technology. The position operates in one of several service areas; this opening focuses on Intake. In Intake, the specialist reviews child support applications and public assistance referrals, gathers case-creation information from multiple databases, researches existing court and child support cases, and monitors application deadlines. The specialist creates electronic case files, enters court order information, generates initial paperwork, prepares documents for court filing, conducts conferrals with both parties before filing motions, and updates case records with outcomes and new order information. The specialist also explains program services and guides applicants through the application process. The position is generally scheduled on either a four-day Monday–Thursday work week or a five-day Monday–Friday work week, with 40 scheduled hours per week. It is hybrid, with some in-office work required for training and staff meetings; all work is in-office during training. Flexible scheduling and remote-work eligibility are determined by the supervisor based on work performance. The hiring range is $26.00–$28.00 per hour, with compensation based on education, experience, and skills.
