About The Position

The Child Development Assistant will work with Head Start and State Preschool programs. This is a permanent, part-time position for a 20-month work year (9 months/year, 20 days/year, 5 days/week). The daily schedule is 7 hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The position is located at General Davie Jr Primary Center.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with infant/toddler children ages 0-3 years and/or preschool children ages 3-5 years.
  • An Associate Teacher Permit (ATP) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) or proof that qualifications are met for the ATP from the CTC.
  • Must pre-qualify by attaching applicable documentation from Option #1 or Option #2.
  • Option #1: Attach a copy of your Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing that includes the document number.
  • Option #2: If you do not hold such a permit, you must demonstrate that you qualify by attaching: OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of (2) two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units). Transcripts must prove completion of 12 units ECE/Child Development courses including core courses. Unofficial transcripts are not accepted. If the degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for its equivalent to a degree/transcripts received from an accredited United States college or university.
  • Option #2: Proof of completion of at least 50 days' experience in an instructional capacity in a childcare and development program, working at least 3 hours per day within the last 2 years. Proof must be on employer official letterhead.
