About The Position

The Instructional Assistant II position at Cameron Ranch Elementary is a full-time, permanent role within the Support Staff & Services category, specifically in Instructional Support. This role involves working with students who have mild/moderate disabilities, including those served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Typical duties include facilitating small group activities, assisting students in larger groups within Special Day Class or General Education settings, and providing support to the teacher. The position requires candidates to possess relevant experience and training that equips them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties effectively. Some programs may require the possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before operating any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.

Requirements

  • Candidates with any combination of experience and training which provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
  • Must pre-qualify by attaching one documentation [A, B, C, or D item] from the following list: [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam - testing date must be April 2005 to current. No other school districts proficiency exam accepted.
  • OR [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  • OR [C] OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units)
  • OR [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher). If your degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, YOU MUST have coursework evaluated for its equivalency to a degree/transcripts received from an accredited United States college or university.
  • In some programs, possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.

Responsibilities

  • Running small groups of students.
  • Assisting students in large groups in both Special Day Class settings or General Education.
  • Supporting the teacher's needs.
