About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The position also follows the daily menu provided by the Director, maintaining compliance with USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. The cook maintains inventory of food and supplies, orders additional items when needed, and assists in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when required.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding hours and work schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
