About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also referred to as the Food Specialist, is responsible for food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The cook follows the daily menu provided by the Director, which incorporates USDA, licensing, and health department regulations. The role also maintains food and supply inventory, orders supplies when needed, and assists in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.
