About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also known as a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role includes adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. They prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms. The role also maintains an inventory of food and supplies, orders additional items when needed, and assists in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
• Flexibility with work hours and schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff.
• Distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain an inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher or Floater.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
