About The Position

This position extends the capabilities and effectiveness of the President & Chief Executive Officer. This role will be responsible for facilitating system-wide transformation, including driving and supporting strategic goal achievement, ensuring organizational alignment, understanding, evaluating and adjusting to environmental changes, resolving obstacles to success and timely escalating issues, prioritizing initiatives and evaluating allocation of resources, ensuring successful integration and execution of strategies and operational improvements. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and partnering closely with the senior leadership team, this position serves as the solution-driven, can-do catalyst for large-scale transformation and goal execution across clinical, operational, financial, digital, and cultural domains. Using dashboards and concise communication, this role will keep the Chief Executive Officer updated in real time on progress and aware of unexpected developments. This position ensures that the organization sustainably transforms to achieve its strategic goals and accelerates success wherever possible. This leader will evaluate and align strategies and goals, ensuring that the organization continues to thrive amid regulatory change, reimbursement pressure, industry public perception challenges, technological advancements, consumer expectations and team member needs. Ensure that at-risk objectives receive urgent team intervention and operations oversight, if needed and escalate to the Chief Executive Officer when objectives are off track. Oversee the preparation and execution of board of directors' meetings and serve as the senior advisor to the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

  • Must possess knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Requires 15+ years of progressive leadership experience with deep expertise in the healthcare and/or insurance industries, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and strategic impact.
  • Must demonstrate strong background in performance improvement, audit, finance, operations, and strategy.
  • Proven experience working directly with and influencing C-Suite leaders and comfort representing and presenting to high-level external audiences is required.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare economics, reimbursement models, and regulatory dynamics is essential.
  • Must possess exceptional strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capability, demonstrating both macro and micro abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical rigor are required, along with proven ability to influence regardless of authority and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Must be a careful and attentive listener who asks smart questions to help guide success, respectfully cutting through noise and providing focus.
  • Absolute imperative to be a clear and concise communicator with brilliant time management capabilities, able to navigate and organize volumes of information while prioritizing focus to achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • Must be tech-savvy and tech-forward, intellectually curious, and open-minded to adapt to new ideas and approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an extension and trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer on performance improvement, strategic change, initiatives and execution.
  • Serve as the trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing an enterprise-level perspective with a solutions-oriented mindset. Connect the dots to ensure the organization is accomplishing goals and initiatives efficiently and effectively.
  • Works with the senior leadership team (SLT) and the strategic planning organization to set the strategic direction for the organization, providing insights and evaluation, developing clear expectations, courageous leadership, and driving transformational, innovative and inclusive solutions to ensure the achievement of desired strategic business objectives.
  • Evaluate strategic goals and review multi-year achievement plans, identify areas of risk, support and co-develop solutions and suggest improved approaches to achievement. Monitor (but don’t impede) on-track initiatives and dig deep into areas that are off-track or do not have a clear pathway to success.
  • Ensure and monitor timelines and confirm clear single accountability for performance delivery; Challenge initiative leaders when tactics are not leading to expected results and support efforts to realign and achieve milestones and goals
  • Develops, implements, and reports to the board on strategic initiatives, outcomes, and measurements. Has oversight of board planning and operations with cross-functional teams. Leads board operations and strategy sessions in partnership with the President and Chief Executive Officer and SLT.
  • Responsible for administering cross-functional executive sub-teams to drive the President and Chief Executive Officer’s vision and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure initiatives are supported by robust data, dashboards, and real-time performance metrics; Drive data tracking, KPI reporting, dashboards and analytics. Stay abreast of all environmental changes, including financial, regulatory, legislative, political and competitive, and ensure that the senior team is informed of relevant opportunities and threats to strategies.
  • Be a collaborative and reliable partner with the senior team, helping all leaders throughout the organization succeed. Listen carefully to voices throughout the organization to assess whether initiatives are understood, accepted, sustainable and result in a meaningful impact.
  • Facilitator of Senior Leadership Team meetings to ensure proper focus, accountability, and timing and to avoid duplicative work or missed opportunities for synergy.
  • Lead the organization in prioritizing initiatives to ensure dedication of necessary resources to strategic priorities and rapidly drive decision-making as to what opportunities to pursue or not pursue; Appropriately challenge colleagues to ensure all are seeking to understand and make the best decisions for the enterprise.
