About The Position

Educators for Excellence (E4E) is seeking a Chief of Staff (CoS) to create systems that deliver on the long-term vision, plan, and culture of E4E-NY. The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and a member of the E4E-NY Local Leadership Team, ensuring the integration of all work streams, including development, policy, organizing, and advocacy. This role is responsible for leading efforts to build an inclusive, diverse team culture that embodies E4E’s core values. E4E is dedicated to improving the education system by empowering teachers and advocating for policy changes that benefit students, particularly those from underserved communities. The organization works to build teacher power and leadership to shape policies and systems that define public education, focusing on creating strong career pathways, coherent instructional support systems, and equitable school funding.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of professional experience.
  • Experience in at least one of the following fields: Project Management, Executive Administrative Support, Strategic Planning.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite and Slack required.
  • Impeccable execution skills and experience navigating complex processes and building out, creating, implementing, and improving upon organizational systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to manage people in different positions.
  • Experience in planning and executing high-stakes meetings, retreats, and step-backs.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with K-12 Education preferred.
  • Familiarity with grassroots organizing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct administrative support to the Executive Director, including calendar management, time tracking, expense reporting, travel coordination, and budget management.
  • Act as the “gatekeeper” and “right arm” of the Executive Director by managing their calendar, liaising with stakeholders, and preparing materials.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to set and drive the vision for the culture of E4E-NY, modeling core values.
  • Ensure the local leadership team operates efficiently and effectively, aligning the Executive Director’s time with chapter priorities.
  • Plan and facilitate local meetings, staff development trainings, and quarterly reflections.
  • Develop and manage systems to ensure integration and accountability of talent, development, organizing, policy, and advocacy priorities across the chapter.
  • Ensure timely decision-making and create systems to manage next steps and deadlines.
  • Consider implications and dependencies on national partners or chapters, solicit input, and facilitate follow-up for decisions.
  • Function as Office Manager for all NY-based office needs, including ordering supplies, managing technology, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Oversee the local team's strategic planning process and progress reporting.
  • Ensure local impact plan adherence and support course correction.
  • Build systems to track progress toward annual goals and build clarity about work across the team.
  • Organize quarterly reflections to review progress, develop new milestones, and strategize for course correction.
  • Design communication and forums for effective communication, understanding, open dialogue, and ensuring all voices are heard.
  • Ensure the chapter prepares for organization-wide initiatives and executes them in alignment with the culture vision.
  • Champion E4E’s Core Values and Commitment to Anti-Racism, embodying anti-racist practices and pushing the organization to grow.
