About The Position

The Chief of Staff (CoS) to the Chief Executive Officer is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving enterprise alignment, execution excellence, and measurable value creation across a multi-state behavioral health organization. Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Chief of Staff serves as a force multiplier—translating strategy into action, accelerating decision-making, and ensuring the organization’s highest-priority initiatives are executed with discipline and impact. This role sits at the center of the organization, connecting clinical, operational, and financial priorities to drive performance, improving patient outcomes, and support EBITDA growth bringing strong strategic thinking, financial and operational acumen, and a proven ability to deliver results in complex, fast-paced healthcare environments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
8–15+ years of experience in strategy, operations, healthcare, consulting, private equity, or related fields.
Proven success operating in complex, fast-paced environments requiring strong execution and cross-functional leadership.
Experience in healthcare services, multi-site operations, or behavioral health strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to drive measurable results in performance improvement, transformation, or turnaround situations.
Strong financial acumen, including experience working with budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Experience working with executive leadership and/or Board-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor and extension of the CEO, translating strategic priorities into clear execution plans with defined milestones, owners, and success metrics.
Drive enterprise-wide execution of key initiatives, ensuring alignment across clinical, operational, and corporate functions.
Prepare the CEO for Board, investor, and executive engagements, including development of high-quality materials and data-driven insights.
Manage and prioritize the CEO’s agenda to ensure focus on the highest impact opportunities and risks.
Support development and execution of the organization’s value creation strategy, with a focus on EBITDA growth and enterprise value.
Partner with Finance to monitor performance, including budget vs. actuals, forecasts, and KPI trends.
Provide visibility into key margin drivers, cost structures, and revenue performance.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve financial outcomes, including cost optimization, productivity, and revenue cycle performance.
Track initiative ROI and ensure disciplined follow-through on value creation efforts.
Establish and manage a rigorous operating cadence, including ELT meetings, business reviews, and performance checkpoints.
Develop and maintain enterprise dashboards that provide real-time visibility into operational, clinical, and financial performance.
Drive accountability across leadership by tracking commitments, escalating risks, and ensuring timely execution of priorities.
Standardize performance management frameworks across regions, service lines, and functions.
Break down silos and ensure alignment across departments, service lines, and geographies.
Clarify decision rights, governance structures, and escalation pathways to improve speed and quality of decision-making.
Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving on complex, high-impact issues.
Ensure consistent communication of priorities, progress, and outcomes across the organization.
Partner with Clinical and Operational leadership to ensure alignment between business objectives and patient care outcomes.
Support the integration of clinical quality metrics into enterprise performance management.
Ensure initiatives are aligned with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and patient safety priorities.
Help drive improvements in access to care, patient flow, and overall care delivery effectiveness.
Lead and support enterprise transformation initiatives in a turnaround environment, ensuring structured execution and measurable impact.
Drive adoption of new operating models, processes, and performance expectations across the organization.
Identify organizational friction points and lead interventions to improve performance, accountability, and culture.
Support leadership in navigating change, managing resistance, and reinforcing a high-performance environment.
Lead high-priority, high-impact projects on behalf of the CEO, including turnaround interventions, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.
Support integration efforts for new sites, service lines, or acquisitions as applicable.
Provide structure, analysis, and execution support in ambiguous or rapidly evolving situations.
Act as a central hub for enterprise priorities, ensuring coordination, communication, and execution consistency.
Support development of Board and investor materials, ensuring clear, accurate, and compelling reporting on performance and progress.
Align internal reporting with investor expectations and value creation objectives.
Assist in preparing executive leadership for Board presentations and strategic discussions.
Support the CEO and ELT in driving a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance.
Identify organizational and leadership gaps and help drive solutions, including role clarity and talent upgrades.
Reinforce disciplined execution, data-driven decision-making, and shared ownership of results.
Serve as a cultural carrier of the organization’s mission while advancing operational and financial rigor.
