About The Position

The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief of Staff . This role serves as a key facilitator of communication between the Commissioner, DTA staff, and external stakeholders. The Chief of Staff supports the agency’s mission by helping to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services and benefits to low-income individuals and families across the Commonwealth. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Advise the Commissioner in deciding strategic, policy, program, budget and service provision issues Assist the Commissioner with the management, oversight and direction of the agency Design and implement communication and legislative processes Design and implement strategies to align agency managers with the Department’s mission, goals, strategy, direction and vision Lead, support and promote organizational effectiveness and efficiency Plan, organize and implement projects and priority initiatives

Requirements

  • Applicants must have at least (A) seven (7) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least three (3) years must have been in a managerial capacity.

  • Ability to communicate agency vision, mission and service policy positions.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures in written and verbal responses to requests for information.
  • Ability to conceptualize the decisions and legislative and communication needs of the agency and identify policy and program operations choices and options creatively.
  • Ability to properly assess the impact of outside forces.
  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Responsibilities
