Chief of Finance /Treasurer BOARD MEMBER
About The Position
Reclaim Education is seeking a financially knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Chief of Finance (Treasurer) to serve as a volunteer member of its Board of Directors. The Treasurer provides governance-level financial oversight, supports fiscal accountability, and helps guide financial planning to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. This unpaid board position requires approximately 20 hours per month, including monthly virtual board meetings, four in-person meetings annually, and participation in financial reviews, strategic planning, and related board activities. Eligible expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with the organization’s bylaws and reimbursement policies. Flexible work-from-home options are available.
Requirements
- Professional background in finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, financial management, or related fields.
- Experience interpreting financial statements and budgets.
- Understanding of financial controls and fiscal accountability.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical leadership and educational equity.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial management and reporting is strongly preferred.
- CPA, accounting, or financial leadership experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of the organization's financial health, accountability, and fiscal practices.
- Collaborate with board leadership to review annual budgets and financial plans.
- Review financial statements, reports, and budget performance.
- Support appropriate financial controls, transparency, and risk management.
- Help guide financial policies and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Monitor financial sustainability and provide strategic recommendations to the Board.
- Support oversight of applicable financial reporting and compliance obligations.
- Contribute financial insight to fundraising, grant planning, and organizational growth strategies.
- Present financial updates and recommendations during board meetings.
- Fulfill applicable fiduciary and governance responsibilities.
