Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, digital strategy, or digital product development, including senior roles such as CMO, VP of Marketing, Head of Digital, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation initiatives that integrate marketing, technology, data, and user experience.
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing, customer journeys, and audience engagement across web, email, search, and social channels.
  • Technical fluency across modern marketing platforms, including HubSpot, Salesforce, CMS, and CRM systems; experience designing and executing nurture campaigns.
  • Experience selecting and implementing CRM or marketing technology platforms and integrating them with digital experiences.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external vendors, agencies, and technology partners.
  • Strong data orientation with experience using analytics, testing, and behavioral insights to drive marketing and product decisions.
  • Exceptional communicator who can present a digital vision to executive leadership, demo working products, and rally cross-functional teams around a shared direction.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a lean organization where you own both strategy and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead Filene's overall marketing and audience growth strategy, aligned with the organization's mission, research agenda, and strategic priorities.
  • Translate Filene's research and insights into compelling, accessible content and experiences that drive member engagement and industry influence.
  • Continue to shift our marketing approach from product-based to needs-based storytelling, with measurable impact and ROI.
  • Lead events strategy and execution including pre-, during-, and post-event activities to maximize return on investment.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Filene's reach and visibility through partnerships, media, and public relations.
  • Oversee analytics implementation and reporting, translating data into decisions and communicating digital performance to leadership clearly and consistently.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for the Marketing team, coaching and developing team members while ensuring high performance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Own the end-to-end digital member experience across web, mobile, and AI-powered platforms from first interaction through ongoing engagement and renewal.
  • Lead the evolution of Filene.org as a digital product: a research delivery platform, engagement hub, and lead-generation engine.
  • Define and implement a best-in-class digital experience for a membership-driven research organization.
  • Design and optimize digital journeys across audience segments so members encounter the right insights, tools, and experiences at the right time.
  • Champion UX/UI excellence and establish web design standards across Filene's digital ecosystem.
  • Ensure Filene's research and insights are discoverable through SEO, GEO, and other AI-driven search environments.
  • Use digital analytics, experimentation, and behavioral data to continuously improve engagement and conversion across member touchpoints.
  • Lead the development and evolution of AI-powered experiences, including the launch of Ask Filene, a conversational interface for delivering research insights.
  • Evaluate AI vendors, platforms, and solutions; guide build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation to improve content discovery, personalization, and member engagement.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and bring practical, strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead the development of Filene's marketing technology ecosystem, including CRM, analytics, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Ensure systems integrate website behavior, email engagement, event participation, and membership data to create a unified view of each member.
  • Develop lead lists and nurture campaigns; drive automation through CRM capability.
  • Partner with the Sales team on go-to-market execution, delivering scored lead lists, marketing collateral, and campaigns that drive revenue.
  • Advance data-driven marketing practices through improved audience segmentation, reporting, and experimentation.
  • Model Filene Credo and play a key role in maintaining the culture of the organization through personal and cross-functional accountabilities.
  • Demonstrate visible, values-driven leadership that inspires trust, motivates teams, and develops future leaders while fostering collaboration and accountability across the enterprise.
  • Actively support the achievement of Filene's strategic objectives, plan, budget, and metrics in a manner consistent with Filene’s mission, values, and brand.
  • Provide extraordinary service to Filene’s staff, members, and stakeholders.
  • Understand and engage in Filene’s complete body of work including research and advisory programs to connect member needs with Filene solutions that can best meet those needs.
  • Prioritize and manage workload across several projects simultaneously, demonstrating the ability to shift gears when necessary to meet key deadlines.
