About The Position

Beacon Mental Health is a growing organization committed to expanding access, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing the delivery of behavioral health services. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading the organization’s technology strategy, infrastructure, and facility services. This role will oversee both Information Technology and Facility Services, ensuring that Beacon’s systems, environments, and physical spaces support operational excellence, scalability, and high-quality care. The CIO will play a critical role in modernizing systems, implementing cloud-based solutions, and leading the development and deployment of an internal intranet to improve communication, efficiency, and collaboration across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (Certification in project management preferred).
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of executive leadership experience in IT.
  • Experience overseeing facilities or operations functions in addition to IT strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technology strategy in a growing organization (preferably 300+ employees).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience implementing intranet, enterprise communication platforms and EHRs.
  • Familiarity with healthcare or behavioral health environments and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and facilities strategy aligned with Beacon’s organizational goals and growth plans.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation of cloud storage solutions and enterprise systems.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of a centralized intranet to enhance internal communication, document management, and workflow efficiency.
  • Identify emerging technologies and innovations that support behavioral health service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on technology, infrastructure, and facilities planning.
  • Direct all IT operations, including infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, data management, and user support.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of all technology systems.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance (e.g., managed service providers such as ITology).
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead data governance, reporting capabilities, and integration across systems (EHR, billing, HRIS, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including HIPAA and data privacy standards.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of facility operations, including maintenance, safety, security, and space planning.
  • Ensure all Beacon locations are safe, functional, and aligned with operational needs.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to facilities (maintenance, security, construction, etc.).
  • Plan for future facility growth, renovations, and expansions to support organizational development.
  • Build and lead high-performing IT and facilities teams, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and strategic investments.
  • Establish service level expectations and ensure timely, high-quality support for all staff.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Oversee project management for large-scale technology and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Drive enterprise-wide system integration and interoperability across departments.
  • Lead large-scale change management initiatives related to technology and infrastructure.
  • Develop multi-year capital and technology investment plans.
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to monitor IT and facilities performance.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, Clinical, and Operations leadership to align systems with organizational needs.
  • Ensure scalability of systems and infrastructure to support workforce growth and service expansion.
  • Support compliance, audit readiness, and risk management related to IT and facilities.
