About The Position

The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the Chief Information Officer position. The Chief Information Officer provides overall leadership, management, and strategic coordination of the Court’s information functions, including direct oversight of the Office of Information Technology, the Office of the Law Library, and the Office of Data and Analytics. In close collaboration with the Chief Justice, Administrative Director, and senior leadership, this role shapes the Court’s technological capabilities, data strategy, legal information services, and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The position stewards the Court’s AI governance framework, ensuring transparency, ethical deployment, security, and alignment with judicial values.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least five years of extensive and substantial management responsibility is required.
  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited university is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes strategic goals, values, and policies across Information Services operations in alignment with the Court’s mission.
  • Provides high-level leadership for court-wide initiatives, including technology modernization, legal information access, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Supports the Chief Justice and Administrative Director in implementing organizational change, fostering innovation, and ensuring policy compliance across relevant functions.
  • Represents Information Services in interagency collaborations and national forums.
  • Oversees the Offices of Information Technology, Data and Analytics, and the Law Library, fostering collaboration and clear communication to ensure their strategies and operations are aligned under a unified information services strategy.
  • Coordinates efforts to drive innovation, efficiency, and consistency—enabling the Court to advance priorities.
  • Provides executive direction for technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, application development, telecommunications, and systems modernization.
  • Ensures effective IT governance, business continuity, and coordination with internal and external partners to support integrated platforms and analytic tools.
  • Provides executive direction in the transformation of judicial data into a strategic resource for court administration, policy development, and public transparency.
  • Provides high-level guidance on data governance, performance metrics, forecasting, and advanced analytics initiatives.
  • Primary responsibility for developing strategy and providing operational oversight of AI functions, including responsible AI adoption, risk management, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Promotes data-informed decision-making across the Court and justice system stakeholders.
  • Provides executive direction of Law Library services to deliver modern legal research services to Justices, court staff, the legal community, and the public.
  • Oversees strategies for collection development, digital resources, public access, and library operations.
  • Supports integration into Court’s digital services and statewide initiatives.
