Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience with Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental lab equipment (course work and lab experience), such as Infrared Spectroscopy and Chromatography
  • Ability to troubleshoot analytical instrument problems, perform analysis, and interpret data
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and coursework in Materials Science and Polymer Science
  • Understanding of material safety datasheets, military specifications, and ASTM test methods
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical course work in Chemistry
  • Ability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired

Responsibilities

  • Assessing materials based on conformance to specifications
  • Assessing parts and hardware based on conformance to design requirements
  • Conducting hands on analytical chemistry using a variety of laboratory techniques
  • Following standard written protocols, as well as developing and fabricating unique test plans and test setups
  • Reviewing material documentation and assessment of specifications
  • Engagement with subject matter experts to understand material usage
  • Engagement with suppliers
