About The Position

The Chemical Operator performs the duties required for the continuous production of chemicals in accordance with DSM-Firmenich’s safety, quality, housekeeping, punctuality, and cost standards. This is an on-site position in Newark, New Jersey, working a 12-hour rotating shift schedule that operates seven days a week, 365 days per year. The operator safely runs and monitors process equipment, documents production activity, monitors processes using GLC, and troubleshoots process, equipment, and automation program issues. The role also supports Guardian teams and Process Safety Management compliance, while ensuring production data and inventory records are accurate. The hourly pay range is $28.00–$32.00. Requirements

High school diploma and equivalent experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
Two years of chemical process experience and knowledge of special formula instructions.
Prior equipment operator experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Ability to drive a forklift.
Willingness to work overtime to cover vacancies.
Ability to work a 24/7 rotating shift.

Responsibilities

Safely operate and monitor process equipment in the assigned area.
Maintain batch sheets, spreadsheets, control charts, and other documentation.
Monitor processes using GLC.
Troubleshoot process and equipment problems and automation program issues, and provide support to Guardian teams.
Ensure accurate transfer of production data into SAP and spreadsheets and maintain inventory accuracy, including proper labeling of inventories.
Support Process Safety Management compliance activities, including PCNs, safety committee, HAZOP, and PSSR.
