About The Position

The Cheese and Coffee Associate provides friendly, knowledgeable customer service and helps customers select specialty cheeses, coffees, and other products. The role maintains fresh, well-stocked, accurately labeled, and attractively displayed products while supporting the department’s daily operations. The associate may also assist with inventory, ordering, deliveries, or training new associates when assigned. The position reports to the Cheese and Coffee Manager.

Requirements

Willingness to learn about cheese and coffee products and explain them thoroughly to customers.
Know where the products are located on the sales floor.
Ability to work productively with coworkers in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to demonstrate and set an example for Adams’ culture and values.
Willingness to collaborate and communicate with coworkers and managers.
Enthusiasm, positivity, and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality.
Ability to move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in cold temperatures for most of the shift.
Ability to safely use knives and other equipment required to operate the department.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for the duration of the shift.
Ability to occasionally use a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for the duration of the shift.
Ability to communicate with others to exchange information and move into different positions, including in tight or confined spaces.
Food safety certification if assigned.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, informed service and assist customers with product selections, samples, and special orders.
Cut, weigh, grind, and package cheese, coffee, dips, spreads, and other specialty items.
Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness, correct labeling, and attractive displays.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of counters, tools, equipment, and department areas.
Brew coffee and keep the coffee station and sample area clean and well-stocked.
Take and accurately prepare catering, custom platter, and special orders.
Monitor product quality and presentation, including sell-by dates and packaging.
Assist with inventory, placing orders, receiving deliveries, or training new associates if assigned.
