About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service to customers at the O'Fallon, Missouri location. The role includes greeting customers, accurately checking out purchases, handling payments and coupons, maintaining register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Training is provided at the store level. Candidates must be available between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays. The role offers 16–24 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Must be available between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which lasts 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline, and must have manager approval based on performance if invited to interview.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
Process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of store management.
