About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service and accurately processes customers’ purchases and payments. The role includes greeting customers, identifying produce and using product codes, processing coupons, collecting payment, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Store-level training is provided. Candidates must be available between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays. The position offers 16–25 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which may last 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
