About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately checking out customers’ purchases. The role includes identifying produce and using produce and product codes, processing coupons, accepting and securing payments, maintaining accurate register records, and bagging orders. Training is provided at the store level. Candidates must be available until 10 p.m. and on weekends. The position offers 20–25 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
Must be available until 10 p.m. and on weekends.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on their feet for the entire shift, which may last 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing and not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
If invited to interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and use produce and product codes correctly.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
