About The Position
The Checker provides friendly, courteous service by greeting customers and accurately checking out their purchases. The role identifies produce and uses produce and product codes, processes manufacturer coupons, collects the correct payment, completes register records, maintains cash security, and bags customer orders. The position also involves changing register receipt and coupon machine tapes. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job. Physical demands include bending, stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and standing for the entire 4–8-hour shift. For internal candidates, Store/Facility Teammates are preferred to have at least six months of employment with Schnucks, and Store Support Center Teammates are preferred to have at least one year. Internal candidates must be in good standing and, if invited to interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.

- Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
- Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
- Process manufacturer coupons.
- Collect the correct amount due from customers.
- Accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options according to proper procedures.
- Complete register records accurately.
- Practice and maintain cash security.
- Bag customer orders.
- Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
- Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
