About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service to customers and accurately checks out purchases. The role includes identifying produce and using produce and product codes, processing manufacturer coupons, accepting and securing payments, maintaining accurate register records, and bagging customer orders. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store/facility teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing and, if invited to interview, have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Properly accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
