About The Position

The Charge Nurse LPN provides nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders, regulations, location standards, procedures, and individualized resident care plans. The role assists in formulating and updating plans of care, observes and documents resident conditions and care, uses the electronic medical record accurately, and ensures physicians are notified and orders are processed. The Charge Nurse LPN also communicates resident information and condition changes to families, supports resident and family education, responds to call lights, and follows infection-control and linen-handling procedures.

This position is part-time on nights at Edgebrook Care Center, a 52-bed skilled, resident-centered nursing facility. The organization offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus and states that LPN starting wages are $27.50. PTO begins accruing on the first day. An employee-approved benefits package is available to qualifying full-time and part-time employees.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensure for the state of practice is required.
• Knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with formulating plans of care for residents in the pertinent area.
• Provide nursing care to residents according to physician orders and regulations.
• Update plans of care when needed.
• Observe and document resident observations and care provided.
• Use the electronic medical record accurately.
• Ensure physicians are notified and orders are processed.
• Receive and share information, and observe and report residents’ conditions.
• Respond promptly to resident call lights.
• Direct and assist with resident and family/significant-other education.
• Notify families of changes in residents’ conditions.
• Handle linens properly and dispose of soiled linens, clothing, and supplies according to regulations and guidelines.
• Use personal protective equipment and standard precautions, follow transmission guidelines, and wash hands between resident cares.
• Report signs or symptoms of resident infections and ensure timely follow-up.
