About The Position

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join their team. This role is vital in ensuring the operating room is prepared for surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of surgeons. The CST will work collaboratively with the surgical team to provide safe and efficient patient care, adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection prevention standards. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

Prepares operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
Establishes and maintains the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
Anticipates the needs of surgeons and assists by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery.
Verifies instrument, sponge, and needle counts according to established policies and procedures.
Assists with patient positioning, skin preparation, and operating room setup.
Handles surgical specimens according to policy and procedure.
Consistently follows aseptic technique and infection prevention standards.
Assists with cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Documents required information accurately and in a timely manner.
Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
