About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at Frye Regional Medical Center, a hospital in the foothills of North Carolina. The role prepares operating suites, performs scrub technician duties, maintains aseptic technique and a sterile field, and supports efficient completion of the surgery schedule. The technician is expected to be competent in at least three specialty areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Competence in at least three specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure equipment and instruments are in good working order.
• Perform the role of the scrub technician.
• Use principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field.
• Facilitate efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
• Maintain an organized work area and participate in daily unit duties.
