About The Position

This role is for a Certified Surgical Tech in the Labor and Delivery department at Ascension St. John Owasso. The position is full-time, working a night shift with three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The primary responsibilities involve preparing delivery rooms and surgical suites with sterile instruments, anticipating the needs of the obstetric team during deliveries, managing the sterile field to ensure maternal and neonatal safety, and maintaining readiness for emergency procedures.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Prepare the stage for a safe arrival by expertly setting up delivery rooms and surgical suites with the specialized sterile instruments needed for both natural and operative births.
Empower the obstetric team through foresight by anticipating the surgeon’s or midwife’s needs during deliveries, ensuring a seamless flow of care during every stage of labor.
Advocate for maternal and neonatal safety by managing the sterile field with uncompromising precision, ensuring all equipment is accounted for during the transition from delivery to postpartum care.
Facilitate rapid-response surgical care by maintaining a constant state of readiness for emergency procedures, ensuring the team can move from a room to the OR in seconds to protect mother and baby.
