Certified Surigcal Tech (CST) Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Emplify Health by Gundersen Health System is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech Intern for a 10-week summer internship running May 25 through August 1, 2027. The intern assists physicians as a scrub person according to prescribed standards under the direct supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist or trained RN Scrub. The primary goal is to provide learning opportunities and extend the student's experience. The intern supports physicians and the surgical team by passing instruments, equipment, and supplies and maintaining aseptic integrity during surgical procedures. The position is described as full-time at 72 hours every two weeks (0.9 FTE), with 9-hour day shifts primarily from 6:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Actively enrolled in a Certified Surgical Technologist program and successful completion of the first year of the program.
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification, including hands-on learning, from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians as a scrub person according to prescribed standards under the direct supervision of a CST or trained RN Scrub.
- Pass instrumentation, equipment, and supplies to the physician and surgical team during procedures.
- Maintain aseptic integrity during surgical procedures.
- Focus on learning opportunities and extending the student experience.
