About The Position
The Certified Sterile Processing Tech at Henry Ford Rochester maintains the integrity and readiness of surgical instruments and equipment. The role supports surgeons, nurses, and patients by ensuring instruments are inspected, assembled, cleaned, and sterilized for surgical procedures, contributing directly to patient safety and surgical success. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, working afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The posting offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus. The position is based at Henry Ford Health’s Rochester campus. The department supports patient care across the healthcare system by maintaining high standards for sterile processing and surgical instrument readiness.
Responsibilities
- Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers for cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Decontaminate soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.
- Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
