About The Position
The Certified Sterile Processing Tech supports patient care by maintaining the integrity and readiness of surgical instruments and equipment. The role involves inspecting, assembling, decontaminating, and sterilizing instruments so surgeons and nurses have safe, ready-to-use tools for procedures. The work directly supports patient safety and surgical outcomes at Henry Ford Rochester.
Responsibilities
- Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers for cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Decontaminate soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.
- Conduct regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
