About The Position

Assist medical providers in providing a high level of quality patient care. Perform a variety of duties in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and the practice’s established priorities and procedures. The role includes supporting examinations, patient education, specimen collection and basic laboratory testing, medication administration as directed by a physician, and maintaining exam rooms, instruments, logs, and supplies. The Medical Assistant contributes to quality and customer satisfaction by delivering service-oriented care, collaborating with patients, families, physicians, and employees, identifying safety risks, and protecting patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA. The role also requires professional communication, effective working relationships, problem-solving, accountability, and adherence to regulatory and company policies.

Requirements

Must have an active RMA or CMA certification.
Must be CPR certified.
Working knowledge of computer applications.
Ability to speak, read, and write effectively.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a pediatric medical practice.
Prior experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to exam rooms, interview them, measure vital signs, and document information in patient charts.
Instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed by the medical provider.
Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
Assist physicians during patient examinations.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory tests.
Keep exam rooms stocked with medical supplies and maintain instruments; prepare sterilization as required.
Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
Perform blood collection according to established procedures and universal precautions in accordance with OSHA standards.
Remove sutures and change dressings.
Maintain required logs and checks, including refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, and cold sterilization fluid changes.
Process messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
Meet position requirements and perform essential functions; complete mandatory training and other assigned duties.
Provide superior, service-oriented customer experiences and collaborate to coordinate care, resolve concerns, and address patient, family, physician, and employee needs.
Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and eliminating risks.
Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA confidentiality guidelines.
Communicate professionally, build effective working relationships, and identify, analyze, and solve problems.
Accept responsibility for decisions and actions, use resources effectively, and follow regulatory and company policies and procedures.
