About The Position

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) for its PSC Ridley Tree Cancer Center department. The CPT is a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team and is expected to maintain appropriate professionalism in the work environment. Under the appropriate level of supervision required by regulatory agencies, the role performs phlebotomy and other skin-puncture collection techniques for patients from newborn to geriatric, including patients who are difficult to draw. Duties also include processing specimens, operating Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems, providing client services, and limited operation of automated instrumentation. Depending on work location, use of a personal vehicle to travel between locations may be required.

Requirements

• Current California phlebotomy certification.
• Computer keyboard skills.
• Achieve 90% or higher on the Data Entry Skills Assessment within 9 months of hire and meet workflow productivity standards.
• For GVCH: valid Class C California driver's license and verification of an acceptable driving record from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or two-year college equivalency.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Experience obtaining blood specimens from neonates and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and other skin-puncture specimen collection for patients from newborn to geriatric, including difficult-to-draw patients.
• Process all types of specimens.
• Use Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems for data entry, receiving, batching, and retrieval.
• Manage the unreceived specimen list and unusual requests.
• Provide client services.
• Perform limited operation of automated instrumentation.
• Maintain appropriate professionalism as a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team.
