About The Position

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Tech for the PSC Sansum Pueblo department. The position serves as a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team and requires maintaining appropriate professionalism in the work environment. Under the level of supervision required by regulatory agencies, the role collects specimens through phlebotomy or other skin-puncture techniques from patients ranging from newborns to geriatric adults, including patients who are difficult to draw. The position also processes specimens, uses Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems, provides client services, and performs limited operation of automated instrumentation. Depending on work environments within PDL, use of a personal vehicle to travel between work locations may be required.

Requirements

• Current California phlebotomy certification.
• Computer keyboard skills.
• Achieve a score of 90% or higher on the Data Entry Skills Assessment within 9 months of hire.
• Meet workflow productivity standards.
• For GVCH, hold a valid California Class C driver license and have an acceptable driving record verified by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or two-year college equivalency.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Experience obtaining blood specimens from neonates and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens from newborn to geriatric patients using phlebotomy or other skin-puncture techniques, including for patients who are difficult to draw.
• Process all types of specimens.
• Operate Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems for data entry, receiving, batching, and retrieval.
• Manage the unreceived specimen list and unusual requests.
• Provide client services.
• Perform limited operation of automated instrumentation.
• Maintain professionalism as a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team.
• Travel between work locations using a personal vehicle when required.
