About The Position

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) for its PSC Sansum Pueblo department. The CPT is a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team and is expected to maintain appropriate professionalism in the work environment. Under the appropriate level of supervision, as required by regulatory agencies, the role performs phlebotomy and other skin-puncture collection techniques for patients from newborn to geriatric, including patients who are difficult to draw. The CPT also processes specimens, operates Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems for data entry, receiving, batching, and retrieval, manages the unreceived specimen list and unusual requests, provides client services, and performs limited operation of automated instrumentation. Due to varied work environments within PDL, travel between work locations using a personal vehicle may be required.

Requirements

• Current California phlebotomy certification.
• Computer keyboard skills.
• Achieve a score of 90% or higher on the Data Entry Skills Assessment within 9 months of hire.
• Meet workflow productivity standards.
• For GVCH: Valid Class C California driver's license and verification of an acceptable driving record from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or two-year college equivalency.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Experience obtaining blood specimens from neonates and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens using phlebotomy or other skin-puncture techniques from patients ranging from newborn to geriatric, including difficult-to-draw patients.
• Process all types of specimens.
• Use Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems for data entry, receiving, batching, and retrieval.
• Manage the unreceived specimen list and unusual requests.
• Provide client services.
• Perform limited operation of automated instrumentation.
• Travel between work locations using a personal vehicle when required.
