About The Position

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Tech for its PSC Santa Barbara Bath department. The role is a front-line public relations member of the laboratory team and requires maintaining appropriate professionalism in the work environment. Under the level of supervision required by regulatory agencies, the position performs phlebotomy and other skin-puncture collection techniques for patients from newborn to geriatric, including patients who are difficult to draw. Duties also include processing all types of specimens; using Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems for data entry, receiving, batching, and retrieval; managing the unreceived specimen list and unusual requests; providing client services; and limited operation of automated instrumentation. Depending on work environment, travel between work locations using a personal vehicle may be required.

Requirements

• Current California phlebotomy certification.
• Computer keyboard skills.
• Achieve at least 90% on the Data Entry Skills Assessment within 9 months of hire and meet workflow productivity standards.
• For GVCH: Valid Class C California Driver License and verification of an acceptable driving record from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or two-year college equivalency.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Experience obtaining blood specimens from neonates and pediatric patients.
