Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - St. Mary's Hospital Richmond
About The Position
The Certified Pharmacy Technician provides pharmacy services, including preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The technician works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team under the direction of the Pharmacist. The role includes receiving and verifying prescriptions, reviewing and recording patient information, educating people on how to take their medicine, supporting the Pharmacist in daily pharmacy operations, and following infection-control protocols and policies to protect employees and patients. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school degree or GED.
- Valid ExCPT certification from the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, and registration with the State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
- Problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy.
Responsibilities

- Adhere to infection-control protocols and policies to protect employees and patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
