About The Position

The Certified Pharmacy Technician provides pharmacy services under the direction of a Pharmacist and as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team. Services include preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The position is with Mercy Health at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in the Retail Rx department. The listed schedule is 0.01 weekly hours, with a days/evenings work shift.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED.
• Valid ExCPT certification from the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, and registration with the State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to engage professionally with staff and patients.
• Problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Receive prescriptions and verify their accuracy and authenticity.
• Review and record patient information with prescriptions in compliance with applicable guidelines.
• Provide instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicine.
• Support the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy.
• Protect employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies.
• Prepare pharmaceuticals; perform inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions; provide customer service; and maintain pharmacy records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
