About The Position

Harrison County Hospital is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant for its Med/Surg and TCU Department. Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, the position performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit, serves as a central communication source at the nursing station, and assists staff nurses with patient treatment and care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The employee must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the life span to assess information about patients’ status and interpret the information needed to provide age-specific care. This is a full-time position working weekend nights in 12-hour shifts on Friday and Saturday, plus one weekday, for 36 hours per week. Harrison County Hospital is an acute care community hospital serving Harrison and Crawford counties in Indiana and Meade County, Kentucky.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Valid Certified Nursing Assistant license in the State of Indiana.
CPR.
Customer service skills.
Basic computer skills.
Basic knowledge of patient care and basic activities of daily living (ADLs).
Ability to use the Cerner electronic medical record system.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit.
Serve as the focal communication source at the nursing station, interacting with patients, visitors, staff, other departments, and physicians.
Assist staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients according to hospital policies and procedures.
Use knowledge of growth and development across the life span to assess patient-status information and interpret appropriate age-specific needs.
