Certified Nursing Assistant
About The Position
The Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCU Nursing Assistant, provides basic patient care and monitoring to adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. The role supports patient mobility and safety, observes patients for changes in condition, and helps maintain a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery. Certified Nursing Assistants do not usually interpret heart rhythms but may recognize monitor alarms and alert registered nurses. This is a full-time, night-shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama. A sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- Hold a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
- Hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintain it.
- Possess knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Assist patients with getting in and out of bed, walking, and using assistive devices.
- Ensure telemetry monitor leads are properly connected and functioning; alert registered nurses when monitor alarms occur.
- Observe patients for physical changes, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, or altered mental status, and promptly notify nursing staff.
