About The Position

Brownsburg Meadows provides a free Certified Nursing Assistant training program for people interested in building a career in compassionate resident care. No previous experience is required, but participants must be committed to providing compassionate care. The program includes free classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training and can prepare participants to become a CNA in a few weeks. Training takes place over two weeks and includes 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training. Participants are supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, graduates may apply for positions at American Senior Communities locations across Indiana. Additional pathways are available for those interested in advancing their nursing careers.

Requirements

No previous experience is required.
Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
Complete the two-week training program, consisting of 30 classroom hours and 45 hands-on clinical training hours.
Complete CNA program testing.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, brushing teeth, and shaving.
Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
Obtain and record resident vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
Answer patient call lights and assist with residents’ requests.
Provide companionship and build meaningful relationships with residents.
