About The Position

Norwalk Hospital of Nuvance Health is seeking a per diem Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join their OB/GYN program in Norwalk, Connecticut. This is a new position due to practice growth. The CNMs, supported by OB/GYN hospitalists, handle first call and patient follow-ups in the office, and also provide First Assist on C/Sections. Norwalk Hospital averages approximately 1,100 deliveries annually and has a Level II NICU, with strong specialty backup including Maternal Fetal Medicine and Gyn Oncology. The team of five CNMs manages around 330-400 deliveries per year and provides 24-hour phone triage for the clinic. This employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice covers two offices and also serves patients from the Norwalk Community Health Center. Norwalk Hospital, established in 1893, is a 366-bed community hospital with a Level II Trauma Center and affiliations with several medical schools. The hospital is recognized as a "Top 50 Hospital" for 2024 by Healthgrades. Nuvance Health serves 1.5 million residents across New York and Connecticut, comprising seven hospitals and a large network of practices.

Requirements

  • Connecticut RN license required.
  • Master’s degree required.
  • Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Midwife program.
  • Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
  • State of CT RN, Certified Nurse Midwife license required.
  • CT State Controlled Substance registration required.
  • Federal DEA Registration required.
  • 2+ years CNM experience required.

  • Spanish skills preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Provide First Assist on C/Sections.
  • Provide 24-hour phone triage for the clinic.
  • Cover Paid Time Off (PTO) of other employees.
  • Participate in 24-hour call schedules (7AM to 7AM) seven days a week and holidays.

Benefits

  • Per diem pay rate of $85.00 per hour.
