About The Position

The Certified or Registered Medical Assistant plays a key role in keeping the practice running smoothly, providing both essential clinical support and administrative expertise. They partner closely with medical and nursing staff to guide patients through their visits, support examinations and treatments, and help create a seamless, patient‑centered experience.

Requirements

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health (AAH)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and collecting chief complaint, family, social, surgical history, and completing medication reconciliation
  • Conducting telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities
  • Gathering and maintaining patient information via telephone per department policies
  • Performing administrative tasks such as prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, and coordinating referrals/testing
  • Completing office procedures per department competencies
  • Performing procedures including breath tests, assisting with flexible sigmoidoscopy, HRA, rectal ultrasound, and glucose point‑of‑care testing
  • Providing written instructions for procedures, medications, and follow‑up per provider direction
  • Retrieving and providing condition‑specific education from approved sources per provider orders
  • Administering medications per provider order
  • Assisting with prescription refills per department protocols
  • Calling medications into pharmacies, notifying patients of refills, and documenting in the EMR
  • Performing MRI screening per protocol
  • Generating result notes
  • Initiating and performing breath tests
  • Administering vaccines and injections
  • Providing patient instructions
  • Completing prior authorization processes
  • Preparing charts for visits and procedures
  • Assisting with minor procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy, rectal ultrasound, and high‑resolution anoscopy
  • Performing and maintaining competency in high‑level disinfection and sterilization processes
